“Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs”

I invite my friends to see the exhibit, “Promoting Peace with Books, Not Bombs,” which opened on October 3 at the Dayton International Peace Museum. The exhibit is focused on the ideals of Greg Mortenson and the Central Asia Institute and their work building schools for children in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mortenson’s books, “Three Cups of Tea” and “Stones into Schools” are best sellers and have inspired educators and peacemakers around the world. Greg Mortenson’s work demonstrates that each of us can play an important role in creating a more peaceful world if we choose.

During the last three months, I have been gathering information and designing the exhibit panels. The photos show me with Peace Museum friends, Patricia Tilton and Karen Witt, who helped create the exhibit. The photo with Greg Mortenson was taken at Xavier University in Cincinnati where the exhibit was displayed for a week before Mortenson spoke there. I am wearing a Pakistani dress that our friend, Saeed, a former University of Dayton student, gave me several years ago. I was proud to have had such a wonderful occasion to wear it to honor the good people of Pakistan and Afghanistan who are working to end violence and war. The exhibit will be at the Peace Museum through the end of the year. May Peace Be with Us.
